Prayer Warriors

Join us as a Prayer Warrior and commit to praying daily for an end to violence and terrorism in the world.  We pray during this time of strife, when terror and hatred grips the heart of many to ask God to bring love and peace to this earth. Santa Maria de la Paz currently has over 550 Prayer Warriors who have committed to pray to this end.

If you would like to join us as a Prayer Warrior, please call the parish office at (505) 473-4200 or click on the blue button on the sidebar area of this web page to submit your contact information.  You will receive a certificate, prayer card, and a "dog-tag" that signifies membership of the Prayer Warrior group and your commitment to pray daily for an end to violence and terrorism.

Every year, on the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, (September 15th) we continue this prayer initiative.   We begin with Adoration, usually at 9:00AM, during which the names of people killed by an act of violence or terrorism are read throughout the day.  Mass follows at 6:00PM. Check the bulletin (in early fall) for more information.

Prayer to End Violence and Terrorism

We pray, O God,
for all whose hearts are consumed
by a zeal that has hardened them;
for all
whose vision is partial,
whose mind is narrowed,
whose perceptions are simplified,
whose soul is poisoned.

We pray, O God,
for the conversion of all abusers, violent offenders and terrorists,
against acts of violence and terror meant to
strike fear into our hearts.

We pray, O God,
for all who are victims,
who have been shaken or directly affected by these evils,
who live in fear or who have shattered feelings of security.

We pray, O God,
for all law enforcement, military, and government leaders
who protect us;
may your angels empower and protect them.

We continue to pray with faith, O God,
as we ask you for your divine protection,
and to bring an end to the violence
that has consumed our world.

We continue to pray with faith, O God,
as we say Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

I would like to become a
Prayer Warrior

I beseech you, O Lord Jesus Christ, that the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose most holy soul was pierced in the hour of your Passion by the sword of sorrow, may intercede for us with Your mercy now and at the hour of our death.
