Mt 9:9-13

The Pharisees were scandalized by Jesus’ willingness to dine with sinners and tax collectors. The latter were considered no better than sinners by the pious Jew because of their alleged collaboration with Roman officials and yet Jesus called one of them, Matthew, to follow him. We know the rest of the story.

I am grateful for your boundless mercy. I must be mindful that here is hope for the conversion and transformation of every person, even and perhaps especially those least likely.
